The cast of Bones plays some of the most idiosyncratic characters seen on television. Interesting writing and top-notch acting bring these characters to life, but it’s their fashion that gives us an instant glimpse into their personalities.

We most often see the ‘squints’ in their lab coats, as pictured here, but once they leave the lab, their style shines through.

Dr. Temperance Brennan is truly a genius, but her social skills are less than stellar. She does seem to appreciate the impression that her appearance makes on people, even if she can’t figure out how to talk to them. She wears tailored suit jackets with fitted pants that show off her figure while still remaining professional.

Her trademark is the chunky, colourful necklaces she is often seen in, no doubt collected during her extensive travels.

In Season 2, Booth’s therapist asked him to put away his ostentatious ties, large belt buckles and multi-coloured socks to prove that he used these standout fashion items as a form of small rebellion.

Once he learned his lesson, the doctor let him go back to his flashy accessories to accompany his standard black suit.

Angela is often described as the most “normal” member of the Bones team. Her contribution to the process consists mainly of sketching faces to match the unknown skulls that end up at the Jeffersonian Institute’s lab.
Her background as an artist is reflected in her colourful boho attire. She is fond of pretty fabrics, shiny jewellery and anything else that satisfies her asthetic standards.

Soil and insect specialist, Dr. Jack Hodgins doesn’t pay very much attention to fashion. He has much more important things to worry about, including all the latest conspiracy theories.
In the first season, his curly hair grew wild, but the romantic relationship that blossomed with Angela in Season 2 seems to have toned down both his paranoid ramblings and his crazy hairstyle.

When Zack received his doctorate, he requested to continue working at the Jeffersonian as a fully qualified forensic anthropologist, instead of as Dr. Brennan’s grad student. He found Dr. Saroyan hesitant to offer him the position, however, because she was sceptical that he would be taken seriously with his foppish hair, college boy clothes and baby face.

Angela saved the day by giving Zack a much-needed makeover. Now, if Dr. Zack Addy is called upon to testify at a trial, the jury will see a clean-cut young man with a sensible haircut and professional, tailored suit.

When Dr. Camille Saroyan was first appointed as head of the lab, Dr. Brennan and her team found it difficult to accept her authority. Eventually, she endeared herself to the group through hard work, fair treatment and unflinching support.
Her look is characterized by slick suits that are professional while still hinting at an undercurrent of sex appeal.

No examination of Bones style would be complete without this shot of Angela’s wedding dress from the finale of season 2. Being escorted down the aisle by her famous dad, Angela wears an ivory gown with a detailed bustier, a flowing stain skirt and a unique decorative hood in place of a veil. We would expect nothing less from her creative mind.

Each member of the Bones team has a unique personality and the clothes and accessories they choose to wear on and off the job give us an idea of what they think, how they feel and what kind of person they really are.
