The Return of Sex and the City

Are you one of the many ladies who have been patiently waiting for the SATC movie?  Laura Hart fills you in on a great way to celebrate.

When we last left our four favourite female Manhattanites, Miranda was married to Steve and living in Brooklyn with little Brady and Steve’s mother; Charlotte was married to Harry and had just gotten the news they would be adopting a baby girl; Samantha was triumphantly beating breast cancer and discovering what true love was with Smith; and, finally, our girl Carrie had finally realized that the ‘thing’ she’d been searching for since the day we met her was right in front of her all along.

International Influence

From a true fan’s perspective, it’s exciting to contemplate the influence Sex and the City (SATC) had, and still has, on the world.  The cultural references created because of the show are incredible.  Cosmopolitans are now synonymous with girls’ nights out, fabulous is so much more than just a word and wearing high heels “like Carrie did” has become a life mission for more than just a few fashionistas.  Beyond the new vocabulary and drink orders, SATC was our show.  It was a single woman’s bible, a safe haven.  Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda were more than just characters, they represented single women trying to make it in this world…they represented us.  They were there to help us through every bad date, every intimate encounter, every awkward conversation and every painful breakup.  We envied the relationships they had with each other and realized that while men come and go, true girl friends are forever.

All Good Things

When SATC came to a close almost four years ago, the collective sound of millions of cosmos cheering and fashionable hearts breaking could be heard the world over.  We all knew it was time, but that certainly didn’t make the end any easier.  This show, this cultural phenomenon and beacon of light to so many strong, independent and single women had come to an end leaving all who diligently followed asking one question – what next?

Well, the wait to find out is officially over.  If you don’t have a cocktail or a Manolo Blahnik sitting in front of you, then raise whatever you can find and join me in saluting the triumphant return of our friends, confidants and inspirations.  Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, you all know that the “what’s next?” is about to be answered as the SATC movie is set to open May 31.  With an event as fabulous as this fast approaching, it’s only fitting that there be fabulous parties to celebrate.

Pink Carpet

What could be better than The Pink Carpet Soiree to kick things off?  Hosted at the Satori Supper Club, 735 Queen Street West, on May 29, 2008, this event is a great marketing and networking opportunity for the femmes who keep Toronto chic, and who, of course, want to celebrate the return of SATC!  With only a limited number of tickets available (250 to be exact), this is an event meant for those who truly embody the lifestyle, the fashion and the attitude.  The venue will be filled to the brim with great prizes, swag bags and true fans, like you, who take fashion, friendship and themselves very seriously.  You are the girls who put on lipstick straight out of bed and kiss your coffees hello.  You wear Jimmy Choos to the grocery store and you’re not about to apologize for it.  Only the best, most fun and vivacious crowd need apply for the chance to strut the 15 foot pink carpet and schmooze with the rest of the fabulous population of Toronto.
